Meet Coach Dr. John Taylor!

Meet Coach Dr. John Taylor!

We are looking forward to spring season and to meeting all of our new girls! We would like to introduce to you in the next few weeks to our coaching team! Our coaches are dedicated and also make lessons fun and exciting! Please meet Dr. John Taylor, one of our three male coaches this season!
John was Born & raised in Seattle, WA. He was a national high school All-American in football, and played collegiately at McPherson College. Currently he teaches physical education at Beloved Community Charter School in Jersey City, and formally starred on the Emmy-nominated reality weight loss television series, “Too Fat for 15.” John recently completed his doctorate in July 2015. He is married to Andreya, a world champion Irish Dancer and former cast member of Riverdance. He has two young children, Molly and Riley.
John originally got involved with Girls on the Run while teaching P.E. at Wellspring Academy in North Carolina. Wellspring was a school for obese middle and high school students, and he began a chapter there because he believed it would help address some of the social-emotional issues my students faced, and help improve their physical fitness and weight loss progress.
When John came to Beloved and found out there was a Girls on the Run council in the area, it was a no-brainer to reach and begin a chapter to address challenges his students face growing up in an urban environment.
Overall, John has coached a total of 5 seasons; 3 in North Carolina and 2 in New Jersey.
John loves Girls on the Run because of the way the program empowers his students, and helps them develop a belief they are capable of accomplishing great things. Whether it is physical, emotional, or social factors being addressed, the program helps every girl realize they are special, strong, smart, and deserve opportunities to be successful.
Thank you Dr. Taylor! You truly are amazing!

John
