Meet our Solemate Jessica!

Meet our Solemate Jessica!

My name is Jessica and I have been a Girls On the Run Coach for 8 seasons, totalling 4 years.

There is nothing more rewarding and life changing than changing the lives of the young girls that come into this program.  I’ve coached so many different girls over the years; some full of confidence and some who still need to find theirs.

By the end of 10 weeks, I’ve seen girls grow into amazing leaders full of self-confidence who believe in their own uniqueness and who feel like they can conquer any challenge or obstacle they encounter, including conquering the 5k they’ve been training for throughout this program!

There are still many girls out there that this program needs to reach. With our help, yours and mine and other SoleMates, we can provide funding for one girl or many girls to participate in Girls On The Run.

With that being said, I ask you to please make a donation big or small to help fund the program and change the lives of young girls everywhere!

Thank you,

Coach Jess – Lafayette Township GOTR

aka Coach Rockstar Jessie❤—-GOTR-NJ-Spirit

Meet our newest Solemate Jen! She will be running the Liberty Half Marathon.

“Hi, I’m Jen. I started running long distance when I was in the 7th grade at school. I’m not fast or competitive, but running is my “me” time and a way to keep challenging myself all these years later. At work, I do contracts, and in my free time, I’m a huge Cubs and Chicago Bears fan and love all nerd culture.”

Important 5k Information

Dear GOTR Families,

Our culminating event, our 5k, is always a day of celebration and joy. The real accomplishment is the 10 weeks your daughter learned her limitless potential, learned to activate her voice and recognized her power and responsibility to be intentional in her decision making. With our core values in mind, we need to recognize sometimes things are beyond our control.

The weather forecast for Saturday is less than desirable. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun morning for our girls and additional runners. Our inclement weather policy is rain or shine. In the event of thunderstorms only, we will delay in 15 minute increments under the advisement of the Sparta Police, up until 9am. We will continue to update our facebook page throughout the morning to keep you informed. Some shelter from the rain, is available at the far end of the boardwalk.

Please keep in mind, restrooms are in the parking lot only, always a good idea to stop there before heading to the staging area.
We recommend either a rain poncho or even a garbage bag for light coverage. A hat can be very helpful as well. In addition, dry clothes post race always look great with our finishers medal!

Online registration is now closed for the race but race day registration is available at packet pick up on Friday and on race morning. Thank you for your support and understanding!

Meet our Solemate Amanda!

Meet our Solemate Amanda!

Hey!!!  My name is Amanda, former couch potato turned runner 🙂  I am a wife, mother of 2 fabulous kids, Realtor and 2nd season GOTR coach.

I don’t have an athletic bone in my body and used to live a fairly sedentary lifestyle.  2 years ago, my husband had a terrible heart issue and the reality of almost losing him was the wake up call I needed.  Thank goodness he is healthy now, but I used that scare as a springboard to start living a more healthy life, so I had the best chance of being around for my family.  I decided to take up running and I had never run in my life EVER.  I couldn’t even run a quarter mile, but I signed up for a 5K and was determined to train so I could run the whole thing and I DID!!!!  I was the most proud of myself as I had ever been.  Fast forward a few months and I decided to sign up for my 1st half marathon, the Wild Half.  This is way outside of my comfort zone, but I know I can do anything I set my mind to.

My daughter is so proud of me and I want to show her and all other young girls that they really can do anything.  GOTR is near and dear to my heart and I want every girl to have the opportunity to participate in this phenomenal program.

Meet our Solemate MaryEllen!

Meet our Solemate MaryEllen!

“Three years ago, I joined a running group with the hopes of getting into shape and making some new friends. I started with the Couch to 5k program and instantly fell in love with running and racing. Since then I have run numerous races including a full marathon.
The love and support I get from my teammates on Jersey Women Strong has enabled me to achieve goals I never thought possible, both in running and in life.
I found out about GOTR from a JWS teammate and decided to coach a team this Spring because GOTR has the same mission as my running group- giving girls confidence in themselves to achieve any goal, helping them feel connected to each other while they work towards those goals, and giving back to the community.
Also, as a mom of three grown daughters, I am happy to be a part of something that empowers young girls to be their best selves!
I am excited to run my 15th half marathon- the Superhero half marathon in May – to raise money for the GOTR scholarship fund so more girls can have the chance to be a part of such an amazing program! “

Meet our Solemate Jennifer!

Welcome to our newest Solemate Jennifer! Here is a little bit about Jennifer.
“I live in Franklin with my husband, 2 year old daughter and two dogs, Chica and Sasha. I am an online editor and freelance writer, and love to be active whenever there’s time. I play roller derby with the Garden State Rollergirls, I kick box at CKO Franklin, and run in the spring, summer and fall. The longest races I have run so far is a half marathon — the NYC Marathon will be my first marathon ever! I love the mission of GOTR — I feel empowering girls at an early age — and promoting physical fitness is so important. I volunteered for GOTR for the first time in November at their Sussex County Fairgrounds 5k and figured since I was running the marathon, I might as well raise money for something close to my heart. So glad I am a Solemate!”
We are so glad you are a Solemate too! If you would like to make a donation you can do so here:

“As a mother of 3 girls and a Girls on the Run coach I have seen firsthand how amazing this program is for young girls. My oldest daughter has been a Girl on the Run for 6 seasons now and I saw a positive change in her almost immediately when she started. She entered the program as a shy, quiet 3rd grader who has now become a confident, kind 5th grader.
Girls on the Run teaches girls that inclusivity, kindness and gratitude gives them far more strength then exclusivity ever could. Every girl should have the opportunity to realize their potential is limitless and anything is possible. If being a Solemate gives more girls that opportunity then sign me up!”
